It’s time once again for a CityLife CD review:

In the future, I’ll clue you in to the Pacific Northwest’s small-batch distilleries, various vodkas, rums, whiskeys and something I found called “Ullr.”

This week I focused my ears on a review of NCIS: The Official TV Soundtrack. It’s a bargain-priced, double-disc affair with a decidedly split-personality. If you want to preview some of the tracks, here’s the official website.

After I outgrew Barbie as a young girl, I was done with dolls. Cars became much more interesting to me.

Since the adult me doesn’t feel the compulsion to procreate, I regard dolls as a creepy substitute for babies. Isn’t that why empty-nester ladies fill hutches with them? So they won’t be alone now that the children are in college?! I’d much rather coddle and dress up my purse-sized pooch, thank you very much.

That leads to my current situation. With the economy in the shitter and the job market flooded with applicants, I’m finding gainful employment (especially in the newspaper industry) to be a dream that’s out of my reach right now. So I’ve had to get resourceful, I’ve picked up a few small design projects (lemme know if YOU need a business card designed!) and I’m selling things on eBay.

Many of those “things” came to me courtesy of a longtime friend who feels the same way I do about dolls. We cleaned out her closet and now they are in my living room. Allison, Rapunzel, Trisha, Ryan, Bo Peep and so many more. Most of them are stacked in their boxes, awaiting the day I can ship them to a new home but a few are out on the table, standing at the ready to be photographed. Sometimes I think I feel their shiny blank eyes on me.

I’ve always been a loner, and I don’t appreciate my solitude being disturbed by all these prying eyes. If you’re feelin’ lonely, consider visiting my auctions. I can’t wait until all eyes aren’t on me.
