Azul’s Taco House

I Love Tacos. Honestly, how could you not love the humble taco? It’s arguably the perfect food: portable, affordable and infinitely customizable! That’s why I feel that I am so blessed as to have a restaurant as creative as Azul’s Taco House (1142 Edgewater Street NW, Salem, Oregon) less than a mile from my home. Azul’s menu is massive, with at least 20 taco options, and that doesn’t include their daily specials.

My favorite deal is a Trio of Tacos, including a side of rice and beans, for just $12. Street Tacos are $2.75 each, Craft Tacos cost 75 cents more. And, if you happen to be some kind of monster that doesn’t like tacos, Azul’s also offers bowls and burritos (but I can’t vouch for those yet, as I am still working my way through the taco offerings).

You can select from numerous beer options to accompany your meal, plus there are two outdoor areas for open air dining when the sun is shining.

Azul’s Taco House is named in tribute to the food truck that began it all. “Big Blue” was the first of several JT’s Food Trucks, operated by partners Augustine “J” Razo, Jr and Tino Land. West Salem is the duo’s first brick and mortar, with a second location currently under construction downtown (245 Court Street NE, Salem, Oregon), adjacent to La Familia Cider‘s soon to open taphouse.

The Willamette Valley is home to a large community of people from Mexico and other Latin American countries; therefore Salem, Oregon offers a multitude of diverse options for delectable tacos (and burritos and so much other delicious food items). There’s definitely a lot more delicious ground to cover on this topic, and I’m eager to bite right in.
